Validator
A server that participates in XRP Ledger consensus by proposing and voting on transaction sets.
Anyone can run a validator, and running one earns no direct reward. Validators are run by exchanges, universities, businesses and individuals who benefit from a healthy ledger.
A validator only matters to you if you list it on your unique node list, so influence comes from being trusted by other operators rather than from capital or hardware.
