A protocol change that activates only after sustained supermajority support from validators.
New XRP Ledger features ship as amendments. Validators signal support, and an amendment activates once it has held a supermajority continuously for a set period.
Native NFTs (XLS-20) and the automated market maker (XLS-30) both reached mainnet through this process.
