Dollar-cost averaging (DCA)
Buying a fixed amount on a schedule instead of all at once.
Regular buying spreads your entry across many prices, which removes the need to time the market and reduces the impact of a badly timed lump sum.
It does not guarantee a profit. In a steadily rising market a lump sum would have done better; the benefit is a smoother average and less behavioural risk.
